The Installation of Major-General DAH Shaw as the Governor of Edinburgh Castle, 24th June 2010. Soldiers of 40th Regiment Royal Artillery, known as The Lowland Gunners, provided the guard of honour and were commanded by their CO, Lt Colonel BW Bennett. General Shaw was a former commanding officer of the regiment.

40th Regiment’s Pipers and Drummers wore glengarries, dark green doublets and plaids of Home tartan. On this occasion they were joined by the Pipes and Drums of 19th Regiment Royal Artillery, known as The Highland Gunners. They wear plaids of Robertson Hunting tartan. These musicians were massed with the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, wearing feather bonnets, red doublets and plaids of the Government tartan. The Band’s Director of Music was Captain Craig Hallatt, and the Bandmaster was WO1 Jeremy Ansell.
