Boy with a pink balloon
One day, I accompanied a foot patrol which happened to coincide with the Muslim holiday of Eid. In a village, the Afghan children were dressed in their best clothes. At a doorway, I was struck by the contrast of a boy with his festive balloon and an alert British soldier.
